Family wellness is often something that people only think about when sickness occurs or when they have their yearly check-ups with primary care physicians. Consequently, illnesses or injuries may go unchecked until potentially harmful medications or expensive surgeries become necessary.
With ongoing chiropractic care, however, wellness becomes a lifestyle, not just something to strive for when you need to be cured. Family chiropractic care is about teaching your whole family how to maintain their health in a safe, healthy, all-natural way so that illness and injury can be prevented as much as possible. We understand that, sometimes, traditional medicine may be necessary, but our goal is to treat the “whole person” via partnering with physicians and holistic health providers and modalities to help you achieve a naturally sustainable pathway to good health and drug-free healing.
Pregnancy is a time when most women experienced an extremely heightened awareness of their physicality. Beyond the sensation of carrying around, nourishing and becoming emotionally attached to a brand new life, there are the immense physical demands that the added baby weight places upon the body.
Consequently, the need for excellent prenatal care is paramount in order to ensure a healthy, comfortable and safe pregnancy and delivery. Along with prenatal vitamins, good nutrition and lots of rest, chiropractic care can add an element of comfort during pregnancy that many women only dream of. Although most will happily endure the discomforts of carrying a new life in their body, it’s important to understand that there are ways to make the physical demands of pregnancy much easier.
According to a study cited in the U.S. National Library of Medicine, it has been reported that about 50% of pregnant women experience back pain during their pregnancy and that up to 75% of women experience back pain during labor and delivery. Only 21% of women, however, actually seek treatment for these back pain issues. The study, whose goal was to review the literature on chiropractic care during pregnancy, concluded that chiropractic care may provide an effective form of treatment for women with musculoskeletal problems brought on by pregnancy.
